email: mushoo@mushoo.net Michael Schapiro is an undergraduate at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. He has won awards for music composition (the Illinois Music Educator's Award, first place in Avant Garde music) and design, and coordinated the construction and progress of "911: Images, Sounds and Words from the students of Evanston Township High School," a digital display of pictures, music, and poetry created in response to the tragic events of September 11th, 2001. It was displayed at Northwestern University's Mary and Leigh Block Museum of Art. Michael has been using computers extensively since he was 3 years old, teaching himself their inner workings and interactions for his entire life. He began designing websites during 7th grade, when he and a handful of other students created the Chute Middle School webpage. He began to expound upon this experience his Freshman year of high school, when he started to learn and master Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. His work was featured in a highschool 'Senior Showcase,' a competition for three scholarships offered by ETHS, and in various showcases around the Chicagoland area. Michael has designed and built applications in various scripting and programming languages, and is very fast when learning new applications or languages. |
